I began writing these weekly stories in November 2009 as a way of keeping in touch with my Dad and of telling him something of my new life now that I am in France fulltime. He has told me that he enjoys them and that they seem to have found favour around family and friends. On my computer the file is called '1200words' which serves as a reminder to me each time to be as concise as possible. Others, reading them now as Tales from Savoie will judge them on their own merits, perhaps remembering that they were originally ‘Letters to my Dad’. If they now reach a wider readership and if you should like them, then you are my kind of person, who enjoys observing and discovering the beauty and pleasure which can be found in small things.
